KFC /Dunkin Donuts - The Oddest Alliance

So Im here at work, rummaging the internet to find interesting(and RANDOM!) things to fill this blog with. And I stumble upon a blog dedicated to Donuts in NYC.

Did you know that the company that owns KFC/Taco Bell/Nathans/Pizza Hut aka Yum! Brands has just merged with Dunkin Donuts Corp. and they are now implementing one of the previously names brands with DD?

Isnt that awkward? Imagine having a local DD (which are not even that good btw) and the next morning suddenly you get a side of popcorn chicken with your chocolate frosted and coffee? Or how about a Meximelt (wih no fiesta sauce..lol) with your gelly filled?

So awkward. Convienient. Gluttonous. But Awkward.

Check out NYC Donut Report! for some more fun reading about the donut movement in the big apple.

Sarah Silverman - She volunteered to smell Richard Christy's unwashed balls during a 2007 Howard Stern Interview, and after nearly barfing, she described the stench as "Raw yeasty sourdough in a vat of mayo left in the magic bullet in the trunk of a car for an entire summer."

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

...on a side note

Disney finally takes back "The Disney Store"

"The Walt Disney Company Takes Control of Disney Stores in North America"

Burbank, CA— May 1, 2008—The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) today announced that it has acquired the Disney Store chain in North America from subsidiaries of The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. As a result of the transaction, which consisted of an asset purchase by Disney's subsidiaries through the bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings of Hoop Retail Stores, LLC in Delaware and Hoop Canada, Inc. in Canada, Disney acquired approximately 220 Disney Stores in the United States and Disney Stores in Canada, with actual number of acquired stores dependent upon the outcome of negotiations with landlords. Disney also obtained the right to conduct an orderly wind-down and closure of approximately 98 Disney Stores in the United States and two Disney Stores in Canada, but without assuming the leases for such stores.

"From Cars to High School Musical to Disney Fairies, Disney's entertainment engines are producing multiple popular franchises," said Andy Mooney, chairman of Disney Consumer Products. "The Disney Stores can play a vital role in touching the millions who cross their thresholds. With the reach of a global retail chain, we will be better able to take advantage of our franchises."

Mr. Mooney announced that retail and Disney veteran James D. Fielding has accepted the position of President, Disney Stores Worldwide. Mr. Fielding will oversee merchandising and all other operations of the Disney Stores in North America and the 107 existing Disney Stores in Europe, as well as manage the relationship with Oriental Land Company, which operates the Disney Stores in Japan under a license arrangement.

How it took me soooo long to find this out I do not know. IT IS ABOUT TIME!
Disney under the control of Michael Eisner back in the 90's sold off it's "Disney Store" brand to The Children's Place, and boy o boy what a disaster those stores are...

Weve all seen the horrible current "Disney Store's" The Children's Place remade, that are basically tinkerbell and pixar clothing and plush animals stapled everywhere.

Fire Destroy's Iconic Sets and Attractions at Universal Studios, Ca

A fire this past weekend broke out in Universal Studios, California's Backlot.
The fire destroyed their King Kong attraction, part of the famous New York City Street set used on ally mcbeal, the xfiles, etc and hundreds of thousands of tape reels for different films and series (duplicates were housed in a seperate location luckily).

But the biggest thing it's destroyed was the famous "Courtyard Square" set that had been used on dozens of films and television shows. The most famouse is most likely the one pictured above where it was "Hill Valley Clocktower" in Back to the Future Trilogy.

The set was currently being used for Jennifer Love Hewitt's show "Ghost Whisperer"

sad sad sad.... :( Can you believe they even lost King Kong? U.Orlando got rid of that in favor of mummy a couple years back...i wonder if they will replace or redo?

Poor Hill Valley.

Burton & Depp looking to Revive "Dark Shadows"

The deliciously gothic duo Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are looking to team up once again. This time to bring the classic horror soap "Dark Shadows" to the big screen.
"Shadows" is a famous horror show that began in the 60's and ended with nearly 1,200 episodes.

The show is credited as being one of the first drama's in american tv history to bring horror and serialized drama to television, which opened the doors for many other shows such as Buffy,Angel,Charmed,Forever Knight, etc.

Rumor has it Johnny Depp may be up for the role of Barnabas Collins, a 200 year old vampire who reawakens in the series, but that has yet to be confirmed.

The movie will more than likely be directed by Burton and who wants to bet Helena Bonham Carter wont join the film at some later point.

"Dark Shadows" was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies. Lets hope the movie follows suit.
